The Bio-Aromatic Garden of Ourika was founded in 1998 by two specialist and passionate brothers :
• The Dr Jalil Belkamel, Phyto-Aromatherapist, specialist in essential oils
• The Dr AbdelFattah Belkamel, PhD in Pharmacy, specialist in essential oils
They therefore decided to transform a potato field into a garden, install a natural cosmetics production unit (Nectarome company), conduct trials for international scientific and botanical research on plants, and give the whole project an educational and awareness-raising dimension by opening it to the public.
About thirty kilometers south of Marrakech, TheOurika Ourika Valley marks the entrance to the Haut AtlasPredominantly inhabited by Berbers, it has managed to preserve a traditional way of life and remarkable natural surroundings.
It is here that was born, in 1997, the first Morocco’s first Bio-Aromatic Garden. Visionary in nature, this project anticipated today’s ecological and economic challenges at a very early stage, as a response to an increasingly industrialized world.
Located at an altitude of 840 meters, this garden stands out for the richness of its botanical collection: around fifty aromatic, medicinal, and ornamental plants are cultivated there. Visitors are invited to discover them through their senses, to observe, smell, touch, and even taste them, while learning about their history, properties, and traditional uses.
The Organic Aromatic Garden of Ourika is no ordinary garden. Unique in Morocco, it embodies a vision that intertwines conservation, science, and knowledge-sharing. Five core missions guide our work.
A gourmet break at the heart of the garden, where the daily menu is written with the seasons.
A profound sensory immersion into the timeless secrets and healing virtues of aromatic plants.
Several workshops to create your own hands, and leave with the essentials: our precious know-how.
